[In]Dependence Movement Tour
We will know in depth the Catalan independence movement. We will talk about 2000 years of history, delving into the House of Barcelona and the Crown of Aragon, in order to understand the begining of Catalan culture. We will explain the events of the Spanish War of Succession and what happened in the city on September 11, 1714.
Also explaining the Catalan Modernism, which was the basis of the Catalan nationalism. We will explain in depth the events that occurred during the second half of the 19th century and the first of the 20th century, ending with the Spanish Civil War and the rise of the dictator Francisco Franco until the restoration of democracy.
We will visit the places and know the history of the events since 2014 to this days, we will talk about the events of September 20th and 21st (2017) and the October 1st Referendum (2017) that led to the Unilateral Declaration of Independence (DUI).
We will explain the role of Defense Committees of the Republic (CDR), Omnium Cultural and Tsunami Democràtic. We will talk about the political prisoners and those who are exiled abroad. We will visit the most important protests and riots spots of Barcelona city after Supreme Court of Spain sentence.
Bike Tour & Tapas
We will ride Barcelona by bike, starting at the Gothic quarter where we will meet two of the most controversial characters who lived in the city: George Orwell and Pablo Picasso.
We will continue at Born and Ciudadella Park where we can get to know the Basilica Santa Maria del Mar in depth. Then we will enter the park to know its rich history, we can also observe the Arc del Triumf and the history of the International Expo of 1888.
We will continue through the Olympic Village, the beach and the Olympic port where we can see the most recent changes in the city thanks to the organization of the 1992 Olympic Games.
We will pass by the Barceloneta, fishermen’s neighborhood, where we will stop at the historic Leo Bar to rest, refresh and recover energies with some of the homemade tapas of the place.
Continue towards the Raval, where we will know the history of the anarchists of Barcelona. We will visit a community garden, a busy and recycled space for the use of everyone. A green oasis inside the concrete jungle.
Along the way we will talk about the history of graffiti and street art in Barcelona.
We will return to the Gothic quarter traveling its small streets to know the most hidden places of the old town.
The tour will leave room to visit a place that the visitor wishes to know.
Mediterranean Barcelona Tour
Starting at Port Ginesta in Castelldefels on board of a sail boat, towards the city of Barcelona. In the time it takes us to get to the city we will explain the history of the fishermen who lived around the ports of Catalunya and it will be the best time to taste some of the typical tapas and drinks of the area, such as bread with tomato, the anchovies in vinegar and the Catalan cava. Here we will make a brief introduction explaining the general history of the region.
Once we see the city we will talk about some of the civilizations that populated the city historically, such as the Romans, the Jews and the House of Barcelona, in order to learn about the places that we can observe from the sea. We will also talk about the Spanish Civil War and the changes that took place during the 1992 Olympic Games, without a doubt the most important event of the 20th century.
We will know the history of the “bastaixos”, tireless workers who made possible the construction of one of the few purely Gothic churches in Europe: the Basilica of Santa María del Mar, also known as “the church of the workers”.
